Leaf Hound - Growers of Mushroom (1971)

First album of Uk hard rock band Leaf Hound. The band formed on 1969 by the name Black Cat Bones and issued one album "Barbed wire sandwich" with Paul Kossof on guitar and Simon Kirke on drums. Shortly after the line up and name of the band changed when Kossof and Kirke left to form Free. Leaf Hound line up then consisted on Peter French on vocals, Mick Halls on guitar, the Brooks brothers Derek and Stuart on guitar and bass and Keith George-Young on drums. Recorded in London at the Mayfair's Spot Studios in only 11 hours in late 1970. The band played a 70's hard rock much in a Led Zeppelin style. Some highlights of this album are the explosive opening track "Freelance Friend" or "Drowned My Life in Fear" with it's heavy riffs and great vocals by Peter French. This album's a 70's hard rock classic... Totally recommended!
